E W Kenyon - The Hidden Man (Affirmation)

Source : E W Kenyon And His Message Of Faith (page 243-244)

There are two types of affirmations that I wish you to notice. First, there is the affirmation with nothing behind it but my own will to make it good. It is based on a philosophy born of sense knowledge. That sense knowledge is a product of my own mind. If it be in regard to sin, I deny the existence of it. If it be regard to sickness, I deny the sickness has any existence. We see this in Christian Science.

All that I have to make these affirmations good is something that I am, or have, of myself. The Word of God has no place in this affirmation. I cannot say that greater am I than disease, or greater am I than this demand upon me, consequently, my affirmation becomes a failure.

The second type of affirmation is based on the Word of God.

You see the vast difference between an affirmation based upon your own will or philosophy and an affirmation backed up by God Himself.

The affirmations based upon sense knowledge philosophy have no more value or ability to make good than is in the will and mind of the maker of the affirmation.

But the affirmation that is based upon the living Word has God back of it to make it good.

E W Kenyon affirmed God's faithfulness in the face of all contrary circumstances. His affirmations were based on the character of God, the finished work of Christ and the promises of Scripture.

Affirmations - E W Kenyon

Source : E W Kenyon And His Message Of Faith (pages 243 - 244)

E W Kenyon believed strongly in the value of affirming God's word as a means of building faith.

Affirmation vs Negations

I know Satan is - But he is defeated
I know sin is - But for me it is put away
Satan has power - But it is broken
Diseases are - But by His stripes I have been healed
Weakness is - But He is our strength
Ignorance is - But He is our wisdom
Spiritual death is - But He is our LIFE

Human reason cannot know Him - We know Him through revelation.. Science denies His presence because it cannot find Him or know Him. Senses can't register spirit.

Genesis 1:1 stands through ages of denial - It solves mysteries of creation.

An affirmation cannot change error to truth.
A negation cannot make truth an error.
God performs all miracles of creation.
Calling Him a principle does not destroy fact.
God is a person who created the universe.

We should not need the evidence of the senses. Let us rest on the Word. Faith holds fast to the confession of the Word. Sense knowledge holds fast to the confession of physical evidence. If I accept physical evidence over against the Word of God, I nullify the Word as far as I am concerned.

Divine Healing - F F Bosworth

Source : E W Kenyon And His Message Of Faith (page 242)

Quoting F F Bosworth:

To the extent that we base faith on our improvement, or are affected by what we see or feel, instead of by the word of God alone, just to that extent ours is not real faith. To be occupied with what we see or feel is to exactly reverse the condition God lays down for us to follow. "Every one that looketh at it shall live," simply means that every one who, like Abraham, so occupies himself with God's promise that he is no longer affected by symptoms, "shall recover." It means, the word of God (not what we see or feel) shall be the basis of our faith. Our "looking unto the promise of God" is to be kept up until we are healed.

Romans 4:20-21
No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God.

Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised.

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good?

Divine Healing - Andrew Murray

Source : E W Kenyon And His Message Of Faith

Quoting Andrew Murray:

Divine healing...calls us to turn our attention away from the body, abandoning ourselves - soul and body - to the Lord's care, occupying ourselves with Him alone.

The first thing to learn is to cease to be anxious about the state of your body. You have trusted it to the Lord, and He has taken the responsibility. If you do not see a rapid improvement immediately, but on the contrary symptoms appear to be more serious, remember that you have entered on a path of faith, and therefore you should not consider your body, but cling only to the living God.

To consider the body gives birth to doubts, while clinging to the promise of God and being occupied with Him alone gives entrance into the way of faith, the way of divine healing, which glorifies God.

Philippians 4:6
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

1 Peter 5:7
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved [made to slip, fall, or fail].

Divine Healing - Maria Woodworth-Etter

Source : E W Kenyon And His Message Of Faith

Quoting Maria Woodworth-Etter:

In seeking healing for our bodies, we are so apt to look at feelings, or symptoms; and believe we are healed just in proportion to the amount we see and feel. When in reality we are healed when we believe. "What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye received them, and ye shall have them." The work was all finished on Calvary. On Calvary's tree the remedy is found that will heal all sicknesses and diseases of the soul and body....Sometimes it is instantly realized in the body, but more often it is a gradual deliverance, requiring us to step out in faith before we see any signs of having it.

Faith looks away from the natural, from the things of the senses, and sees the fulfillment of the promise, through Christ's complete work on Calvary. It sees every need supplied through the atonement....We must cling to the promise of Jesus instead of looking at our feelings, or go by them, for our senses are false witness unto us when we step out in faith.

If we are looking and going by our feelings, we are believing them instead of believing God.

Philippians 4:19
And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Divine Healing - Carrie Judd Montgomery

Source : E W Kenyon And His Message Of Faith (Page 240)

Quoting Carrie Judd Montgomery:

Before we have the evidence of our senses in regard to the matter, we accept the evidence of faith.

Having faith in God is believing His word without looking at probabilities or possibilities, as humanly viewed; without regarding natural circumstances; without considering any apparent obstacles in the way of His keeping His promises...It is faith not to be staggered at any complication of adverse circumstances.

Our faith in God must be so steadfast that even if the evidence of all our senses should deny His word, we must consider them as deceiving us, and still continue to uphold His faithfulness. Such faith as that never fails to remove, sooner or later, the mountain of difficulty or doubt.

Divine Healing - A B Simpson

Source : E W Kenyon And His Message Of Faith (Page 240)

Quoting A.B. Simpson:

Our faith itself is nothing but simply taking His free gift of grace. Thus come and claim His promise; and having done so, believe according to His Word that you have received it.
....Be careful not to begin to watch the result or look at the symptoms, or see if you stand. You must ignore all symptoms, and see only Him there before you, almighty to sustain you and save you from falling.

Be prepared for trials of faith. Do not look always for the immediate removal of the symptoms. Do not think of them. Simply ignore them and press forward, claiming the reality behind all symptoms. Be the symptoms what they may, we must steadily believe that back of all symptoms God is working out His own great restoration.

Divine Healing - R A Torrey

Source : E W Kenyon And His Message Of Faith (Page 239)

Quoting R A Torrey:

As I sat there an impulse came to me to kneel and pray to God that He would heal the young man. I did this, and as I prayed a great assurance came into my heart that God had heard my prayer. I arose and said to the doctor, who was a backslider, "He will get well." The doctor smiled and replied, "Well, Mr Torrey, that is all very well from your standpoint, but he cannot get well. The crisis is past and has passed the wrong way, and he will die." I replied, "Doctor, that is all right from your standpoint, but God has heard my prayer. The man will not die, he cannot die at this time, he will get well."

A short time afterward they came up to tell me the young man was dying, that he was doing certain things that only one dying would do. I replied them, "He is not dying, he cannot die now, he will get well." And get well he did, and as far as I know is living still, though that was over forty years ago.

"Torrey expressed this belief in a positive confession, saying, "He will get well." This confession was based entirely on Torrey's assurance that God had heard his prayer, not on any change in the one who had received power. When the patient took a turn for the worse, Torrey was unmoved. In spite of the doctor's insistence that the man was dying, Torrey "held fast to the confession of his faith" and said the man would not, could not, die. This was based on the assurance that God had heard his prayer and nothing else.

This is faith in God...the assurance of being heard by God was considered more authoritative than the condition of the boy's body...he spoke what he believed in the face of contrary evidence. "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks,' Jesus said in Matthew 12:34."

Penny Wise Pound Foolish?

I realize that I have in times of past given away my birthright as a born-again child of Almighty God for instant gratification of the flesh. By birthright, I am referring to the rich inheritance as joint-heir with our Lord Jesus Christ.

If not for the mercy of God, I would have continued in this trend and death would have ensued. For the wages of sin is death!

Truth is Satan is constant trying to seduce me to a relapse. Praise God for His Word that I can resist him and he will flee from me! James 4:7

I believe Abba has warned me in the Book of Genesis about this.

[Two] children struggled together within her..Genesis 25:22 :

I see this as describing two groups of believers growing and maturing in the church (the body of Christ).

When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. Genesis 25:25 :

All believers are born-again in the image of God. Since all bear the same image, all are therefore twins.

When the boys grew up, Esau was a cunning and skilled hunter, a man of outdoors; but Jacob was a plain and quiet man, dwelling in tents. Genesis 25:27 :

The word "Tent" reminds me of Psalm 27:5 - "For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock". It seems to paint the picture of the two groups of believers:
1. Those who stay within the will of God but are perceived as plain and quiet;
2. Those who stay outside the will of God and are seen as cunning and skilled.

Jacob was boiling pottage (lentil stew) one day, when Esau came from the field and was faint [with hunger]. Genesis 25:29:

I perceive this as an illustration of God’s provision for those in His will in contrast to those without; those who toil and labor but yet still lack. It also brings to mind Psalm 23: 1 – “The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not lack”.

And Esau said to Jacob, I beg of you, let me have some of that red lentil stew to eat, for I am faint and famished! That is why his name was called Edom [red]. Genesis 25:30. Jacob answered, Then sell me today your birthright (the rights of a firstborn). Genesis 25:31. Esau said, See here, I am at the point of death; what good can this birthright do me? Genesis 25:32:

I perceive this to be an illustration of how the two groups of believers view the value of the inheritance. Esau represents those outside God’s who will surrender the rich inheritance for instant gratification (as hunger symbolizes). The statement made by Esau in Geneses 25:32 supports the idea of Esau representing believers who are not staying within God’s will. Overwhelmed by circumstances, this group of believers loses sight of the prize.

Jacob represents the other group of believers who recognizes the immense value of that same inheritance.

What's The Matter With You?!?

Money is the conventional medium of exchange in the world we live in.

A man exchanged a huge sum of money for a piece of property as agreed in a contract. As he was about to move into the property, the seller disputed and insisted that the property has not been sold!

The man hammered his chest in agony and cried for justice to be done. He did this everyday with the seller laughing in his face!

It then dawned on him that he had the contract with him. The man showed the seller the contract. The seller refused to honor it. The man then wailed!

After a long while, the man came to his senses. He threatened legal action in the hope that the seller will relent. The seller laughed even louder!

The man was utterly grieved and contemplated suicide. Then he thought, what the heck, might as well proceed with the legal suit.

As the proceedings were in progress, the man worried himself sick everyday; unsure if he would win. The seller kept tauting him with suggestions of him losing the case. The poor man lived in fear everyday.

On the final day of the verdict, the judge lashed and whipped the seller. The property together with related damages were recovered to the man.

Interestingly, the man lodged an appeal to The Judge. His case? "Lord, the seller has told me that the property is still his!".

The Judge replied: " I have judged that the property is yours!"

But the seller says.....retorted the man!

The Judge says : "It's up to you who you want to believe."

What's the matter with this man?!?

It was only recently that I realise I am in possession of an even more effective medium of exchange?

The Word!

The Word says that I already possess everything in this world. This is sealed with the precious red liquid in an iron-clad covenant. The conman and accuser comes around and denies all that!

God says:

He will liberally supply (fill to the full) my every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not lack. Psalm 23:1

I have won the case!

It is a done deal!

Iron-clad covenant sealed with the precious blood of our Lord Jesus!

Don't play play!!!

It is written that "God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or Has He spoken and shall He not make it good? Numbers 23:19

I am fully satisfied and assured that God is able and might to keep His word and to do what He has promised. Romans 4:21.

For He is alert and active, watching over His word to perform it. Jeremiah 1:12.

As far as I am concerned, what I confess, I possess!!!

I accept The WORD as final!

The conman wants to be whipped again!!! Let him have it!!!

Why?

It's not for me to ask, it's not for me to say;
Why the wicked men prosper in their ways;
For I know that my God watches me each day;
In his heart of love, that is where I'll stay!

For my God says: "Vengeance is mine, I will repay!"
And yet He also says : " I desire mercy and not sacrifice."
Oh, how wonderful are His ways!
Without that I wouldn't be here today!

For only He knows and hearts and minds of men, who are but like clay: and a mist; which is here today and tomorrow is gone away!

Hip, Hip, Horray!

Mysteries : Stars

Merriam Webster Online dictionary defines stars as a natural luminous body visible in the sky especially at night.

Wikipedia describes a star as a massive, luminous ball of plasma that is held together by gravity. The nearest star to earth is the sun, which is the source of most of the energy on Earth. Other stars, for example the moon (lesser light) are visible in the night sky, when they are not outshone by the Sun (the greater light). [Words in bold and italics mine].

Ever gazed at stars? Ever had that experience of a deep sense of peace and comfort from gazing at stars?

There is something mysteriously profound and satisfying about star gazing. Is this mystery unfathomable?

I believe mysteries should be explained with the help of the creator of mysteries. I also believe the answer to the phenomena can be found in what I consider the book of mysteries: The Bible. (hereinafter referred to as the Book of Mysteries)

It is written in the book of mysteries that the Maker “made the two great lights – the greater light (the sun) to rule the day and the lesser light (the moon) to rule the night. He also made the stars”.

It is also written that the Maker said: “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be signs and tokens of His provident care..”.

I believe with all my heart that our subconscious realm is able to relate to the wonderful promise of provident care, regardless of our circumstances. To me, it explains the deep sense of being cared and provided for; that deep sense of well-being that wells up within our innermost being when we gaze at the stars.

When we gaze at the stars, they bring to remembrance the promise of His provident care!
